Nell Terrell McNeil

Nell Terrell McNeil, 68, of Gloster, died Oct. 3, 2007, at her residence.

Visitation is 6 to 9 tonight at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, and 9 a.m. Friday until services there at 10 a.m. The Rev. James Sadler will officiate. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery in Gloster.

Mrs. McNeil was born July 27, 1939, in Liberty. She was the daughter of Lottie Roberts Terrell of Liberty and the late Johnnie Bertram “Poppy” Terrell.

She was a homemaker and active member of the First Families of Mississippi, Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of Confederacy. At the time of her death, she was Mississippi division chaplain of the UDC. She was a lifelong Methodist Church member.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Sam A. McNeil of Gloster; a daughter, Debra McNeil Cowart and husband John “Van” Cowart of Gonzales, La.; a son, Charles DeWayne McNeil Sr. and wife Jennifer of Gloster; two grandchildren, Samantha Lynn Cowart of Gonzales and Charles DeWayne McNeil Jr. of Charleston, S.C.; her mother; and a brother, James Bertram “Jack” Terrell of Liberty.
