Services for Mrs. Nellie Mae Cruse, 84, of Winnsboro, La. will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Mulhearn's Chapel in Winnsboro with Dr. Alan Miller and Rev. Bobby Brown officiating, interment to follow in the Lone Cedar Cemetery under the directions of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro, LA.
Mrs. Cruse was the granddaughter of the Rev. T. M. Ellerbe who was known as the Apostle of the Delta. She was a Charter member of Temple Baptist Church, her hobbies include her love for the Atlanta Braves Baseball, working crossword puzzles, and caring for her beloved dog Taffy. Nell affectionately known as ``Mamaw'' was well loved by all who knew her and was thought of by everyone as the sweetest, kindest person.
Mrs. Cruse was preceded in death by her husband Elbert M. Cruse, Sr., parents J. C. Ellerbe Sr., and Martha Gordy Ellerbe, brother J. C. Ellerbe Jr., and great grandchild Ciara Kaye Landry.
Survivors include her daughter Alice Cruse Ward; son Elbert M. Cruse Jr. and wife Charlene; sisters, Mary Frances Coughran, Martha Ann Winters and husband John; sister-in-law, Joyce Fain; grandchildren Rusty, Amanda Landry, Eric and wife Kristen; great grandchild Landon Landry; step grandson Craig Ward and wife Sarah, and their children Erika and Erin; special niece Janie Ellerbe and son Joseph.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Ellerbe, Keith Taylor, Hank Jones, Winton Lofton, Billy Ray Smith, Tommy Cruse, and Clifton Lord.
Honorary Pallbearers are members of her Sunday school Class, Nobie Davis, Claudine Westerburg, Opel Nelson, Bea Nielsen, and Claudine Smith.
