Funeral Services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 10:00 am in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Nelma Marie Dendy, 87, who passed away on January 2, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Reverend Curtis Mallet, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Entombment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Dendy, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Adolph Sonnier of Carencro and the former Agnes Pourciaux of Breaux Bridge. Nelma was a retired registered nurse from Lafayette General Medical Center. She was a member of St. Genevieve Church.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Loyd T. Dendy; two sisters, Marella Sonnier Breaux and husband, Shirby and Audrey Mae Champagne and husband, Vernon; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; one brother in law, Tom Sargent as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Daniel K. Dendy, Paul L. Dendy and James D. Dendy; two brothers, Robert and LeRoy Sonnier; two sisters, Eula Mae Trahan and Georgia Marie Sargent.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Monday, January 4, 2010 from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm and will continue on Tuesday 8:00 am until time of service at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette.
Pallbearers will be Brian Dendy, Jason Dendy, Dwayne Dendy, Donald Sargent, Mark Sargent and Ed Breaux. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rocky Sonnier, John Breaux and Jason Airhart.
Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Mrs. Dendy to your charity of choice.
