N. Shows, Jr., Dies After Auto Mishap
MELVILLE -- N. T. Shows, Jr., 36 years, native of Melville and a resident of Odessa, Tex., was instantly killed Friday afternoon about 1:30 o'clock near Lubbock, Tex. A station wagon which Shows was driving collided with a truck, according to information reaching Melville.
At the time of the accident Shows was enroute to New Mexico to direct work as service engineer with Bethlehem Steel corporation.
The body is being returned to Melville but funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Shows, son of Mr. and Mrs. N. T. Shows, Sr. of Melville, was born and reared in Melville and educated there. His wife, the former Jean Foret, is also a former resident of that community.
Surviving the deceased are his widow and two children, N. T. Shows, III and Beverly Shows, all of Odessa, his parents of Melville; two brothers, N. W. Shows of Sulphur and J. R. Shows of Natchitoches; five sisters, Mrs. Buddy Jones of Shreveport, Mrs. E. F. Kramer of Meeker, Mrs. W. B. James of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. W. B. Flowers of Paris, Tex., and Mrs. J. H. Welch of Lake Charles.

Louisiana Burial Planned For Man Killed In Plains Wreck
BROWNFIELD, Feb. 17 (Special) -- Body of Newsom T. Shows, jr., 36-year-old Odessan killed in a highway collision Friday, was to be sent tonight by Brownfield funeral home to Opelousas, La., for burial.
Shows, who had lived in Odessa about a year, died en route to a hospital after the panel truck he was driving was in collision with an oil transport in Plains.
Driver of the oil transport, Lewis B. Parker of Plains, was taken to a Denver City hospital where it was reported he was badly shaken up. His condition was not serious.
Show's [sic Shows'] death was the second in two days resulting from car accidents on the South Plains. He is the 11th person to die in wrecks on the South Plains this year. He was employed by Bethlehem Supply company of Odessa.
Survivors include his wife, a son, N. T.; a daughter, Beverly Jean; parents of Melville, La., five sisters and two brothers.
