Dr. Noel Thomas Bennett
SAN AUGUSTINE, TEXAS - Dr. Noel Thomas Bennett died Thursday April 14, 1988 at his home in San Augustine, Texas at the age of 81. His death comes after a lengthy illness.
Dr. Bennett was preceded in death by his first wife, Lydia Edith Gaar Bennett, and a son, John Michael Bennett.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise Adkins Bennett of San Augustine; Dr. Kenneth R. Bennett of Jackson, Miss., Gaar Bennett Smollen of Shreveport, La., George Crafton Bennett of Beaumont, Texas, Joseph Michael Bennett of San Augustine, Noel Thomas Bennett, Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas, Annella Bennett Nelson of Shreveport, La., Schultz Jackson Bennett of Phoenix, Arizona; and two sons-in-law, three daughters-in-law, fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Dr. Bennett was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University in 1932 and entered Baylor University Medical School in 1934 where he graduated with MS and MD degrees in 1938. He served his internship at Old Charity Hospital in Shreveport. He was a veteran of World War II. Dr. Bennett lived and practiced medicine in San Augustine 46 years and during this time he was also associated with the P & S Hospital in Shreveport. Recently the Texas Medical Association honored him with a membership in its 50 year club.
Dr. Bennett was highly respected and dearly loved by those who knew him and his loss will be felt by many.
Burial will be San Augustine. Services will be at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Saturday.
