Nola Beasley Jones

HARRISONBURG -- Services for Nola Beasley Jones will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church, Harrisonburg, with the Rev. Ralph Webber officiating. Burial will be in Harrisonburg Cemetery, Harrisonburg, under directions of Young's, Jonesville.

Jones, 81, of Harrisonburg died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, in a Lake Charles hospital.

She was a native and a lifelong resident of Harrisonburg. She was a graduate of Northwestern State University, where she was a majorette. She was a social studies teacher at Harrisonburg High School for 42 years, where she was senior class and student council sponsor.

She was a charter member of Harrisonburg Women's Club, charter member of Catahoula Chapter and DAR, and Delta Kappa Gamma of which she served as various officers. She served as instrumentalist of the Harrisonburg Methodist Church and First Baptist Church of Harrisonburg. She was a local historian who helped preserve local history.

Survivors include one daughter, Gayle Jones Fisher of DeQuincy; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6-10 p.m. today in the church.
