Courtney Woman Interred Monday
STANTON, July 6. -- (Spl.) -- Funeral services for Mrs. May Crudup who died at her home in the Courtney community Sunday were held at the First Methodist church here Monday afternoon with burial in Evergreen cemetery.
Death followed a long period of ill health, Mrs. Crudup, about 38, having been confined to her bed since last September.
Services were in charge of Rev. A. T. Mason of the Courtney Methodist church, assisted by Rev. Raymond Van Zandt, local pastor, and Rev. Hal Reddock, Baptist minister.
Pall bearers were: Ira Echols, Garrett Smith, Marshall Blocker, Charlie Williams, Louis Snodgrass and Finley Rhodes.
Flower girls were: Miss Bernice Massey, Mrs. Finley Rhodes, Miss Leona Reynolds, Mrs. Sidney Cross, Mrs. Ola Williams, Mrs. Melissa Forsyte, Miss Melba Cross, Mrs. Garrett Smith.
Sidney Cross was in charge of music.
Mrs. Crudup is survived by two daughters, Avaline, 10, and Lavada, 7, her mother, Mrs. J. Mohnkern of Germania, a brother, Lawrence Mohnkern, also of Germania, and two sisters, Tennie Mohnkern of Germania and Mrs. Allen Reynolds of Courtney.
She was reared in this region and attended school at Courtney. She was a member of the Methodist church, having joined the Stanton church in 1915.
