Norris B. Cheek
Mr. Norris B. Cheek, 84, a resident of Green Acres Drive in Columbia, died Thursday at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Cheek will be conducted Sunday, February 22, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Calvin Hardison officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors being provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Cordie Lee and Bessie Alsup Cheek and was the husband of the late Margaret Galbraith Cheek who died in 2003. He was a retired owner & operator of the Market Basket in Columbia and was a former long-time resident of Tom Littlejohn Road. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Junior Order of Mechanics and a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his children, Beryl (Todd) Turner of Hickman, TN and Thomas (Tereasa) Cheek of Columbia, TN; three sisters, Gladys Tindell, Mary Louise Rummage and Eunice Pullen all of Columbia, TN; a twin brother, Morris L. Cheek of Columbia, TN; Grandchildren, Matthew Cheek of Columbia, TN, Kelly (Tonya) Cheek , Marty Pruitt, Candice (Lupe) Perez all of Nashville, TN; great-grandchildren, Paul Cheek and Brianna Perez both of Nashville, TN; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ercel Cheek and J. V. Cheek.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Cheek, Kelly Cheek, Tommy Helton, Josh Helton, Billy Manier, and Marty Pruitt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Helton, Bob Duncan, Terry Hann, and Buddy Stoops.
