O. D. Glover
Funeral services for O. D. Glover, 91, of Wells, will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Falvey Memorial United Methodist Church in Wells with Reverend Joe Beran officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Glover died on Friday, June 26, 2009 in a local hospital. He was born in Wells, Cherokee County, Texas on November 28, 1917, the son of the late Evie (Goodwin) and John Glover. He lived in Wells his entire life. Mr. Glover was devoted to his wife and family. He was a retired logger, employed for 32 years at Peacock Crate Factory in Jacksonville, Texas. He enjoyed raising cattle, being outdoors, hunting, and playing dominoes with his domino buddies.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Mildred Glover, son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Bea Glover, daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and C. W. Williams, and Debbie and Gary Johnson, all of Wells. Grandchildren: Michelle Williams, Carty and Dee Williams, Mandy and Shane Scroggins, and Slade Johnson of Wells, Heather and Jason Carpenter, Tiffany and James Blackwood of Lufkin, and Trae and Lindsey Glover of Alto; great-grandchildren; Alexa and Jackson Scroggins, Ashlea and Ashbea Jones, Elly Blackwood, Jaycee Carpenter, and Shanna Glover; sisters, Ella Jackson of Marshall, Mamie Whitley of Carthage, and Katherine Allen of Lufkin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Troy and Bonnie McCarty of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded by a daughter, Sara Glover; sisters, Johnnie McKee and Bill Lott; brothers, A. L. Glover, Lubie Glover, James (Toby) Glover, and Jack (Shine) Glover.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Carty Williams, Trae Glover, Slade Johnson, Jason Carpenter, James Blackwood and Shane Scroggins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Crawford and Carl Brewer.
