Obie Brown Taunton
Obie was born on March 31, 1912 at West Bay, FL to John Newsom Taunton and Pearl Taunton. He passed away on February 16, 2007 at Salem, AR at the age of 94.
He served in the US Army. He was a long time resident of Lynn Haven, FL. Employed many years with the Bay County School District and was a minister for 35 years.
Survivors include daughter Genise Knox of Willis, TX, grandsons Jeff and Johnny Blackmer, granddaughters Lisa Henderson and Gina Tatum, great grandson Michael Threadgill, stepdaughters LaVerne Mullen, Laurel English, step grandchildren Mark and Tim Sanders and Cinda Pike, 6 step great-grand children, nephews Leland, Asa, Mike and Scotty Taunton, Stephen and Kevin Kent, Niece Marion Unger, Sister-in-law Audrey Taunton.
Preceded in death by parents, son John Newsom Taunton, brothers Amos and Lee Taunton, wife Pauline Taunton, nephew Roger Newsom Taunton, sister-in-law Betty Jean Taunton.
Funeral Services for Mr. Taunton will be held at Southerland Family Funeral Chapel in Lynn Haven, FL on Friday, February 23, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. with Bro. Darwin Glass officiating. Burial will follow in Lynn Haven Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Stephen and Kevin Kent; Scotty, Asa and Mike Taunton.
A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Obie Taunton
Obie Taunton, age 94, of Ash Flat died Feb. 16, 2007, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem. He was born March 31, 1912, in West Bay, Fla.
He was united in marriage to Pauline Glenn on Sept. 3, 1965, in Lynn Haven, Fla. She preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 2007. He was a retired Pentecostal minister.
Survivors include three daughters: Laverne Mullen of Cherokee Village, Laurel English of Hart, Texas, and Geannise Knox of Houston, Texas; one son, Glen Havis of Plainview, Texas; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Feb. 23 at Southern Funeral Home in Lynn Haven, Fla. Local arrangements are under direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service in Hardy.
