Oddice Lonez Neel

Oddice Lonez Neel, 81, of Sour Lake died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 in Carthage, Texas. Oddice was born April 25, 1925 to John Wesley and Bertha (Young) Boyd in Simsboro,Louisiana and lived in Sour Lake since 1960. She worked in retail sales and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Sour Lake, dearly loved her Bykota Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her daughters, Johnnie Melton and husband Dan of Carthage, Susan Nanette Lyons and husband Charlie of Sour Lake; step-son Marshall Heflin, Jr. and wife Betty of Port Orchard, Washington; grandchildren, Mark Neil Heflin, Danny Heflin, Matthew Heflin, Chris Odom, Brady Odom, Marlo Carrell, Brandi Weeks, Jessica Lyons, Cyndy Wycherley, and Dee Ann Melton; and thirteen great-grandchildren with the fourteenth great-grandchild due June 15th.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Marshall L. Heflin, Sr. and Wallace L. Neel, Sr., both of Sour Lake, and her sister Sarah Inez Boyd.

Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 21, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Sour Lake, 765 6th Street, Sour Lake with Reverend Danny Biddy and Dr. Dwayne Kelley officiating followed by burial at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Sour Lake. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 9:00 A.M. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Broussards in Kountze.
