Ola Miller

Ola Miller was born November 19, 1919, the fourth of nine children, to Maude Butler Faulk and Ivy Faulk in Chatham, LA. She died November 26, 2003, with her granddaughter, Debbie, and her great-granddaughter, Kristy, at her side.

Ola was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Ray Miller; her husband, Herman Ray Miller; and siblings, Calvin Faulk, Ollie Mae Brock, Jesse Faulk, Emmanuel Faulk, and Leonard Faulk.

She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Miller Howard; grandchildren and their spouses, Debbie and Jose DaSilva, Dena and Bruce McCrone, Danny and Amy Miller, Wendy and Mohsin Aziz, Ken Howard, Tracy Howard and Jeff; great-grandchildren, Kristy DaSilva, Sarah and Casey McCrone, Nyla and Alex Aziz, and Emma and Abigail Miller; siblings, Ruby Meador, Maudie and Pete Coleman, and David and Lessie Faulk; sister-in-law, Willie Mae Burnett and numerous nieces and nephews, (locally, Wanda and Larry Sample, Gwen and Bill Jones, Delbert Faulk, and families).

Ola moved to Crannell in 1947, moving to Arcata in 1961, where she resided until March 2001. She then moved to Arcata's Hollybush House. In June 2001, she moved to SunBridge Rehabilitation Center until her death.

During her life, she worked in the Reiman, Hartman and Gilchrist Bulb Farms, Coast Oyster Plant, Bim’s Drive-in, and Humboldt State Cafeteria. Ola enjoyed working in her yard and garden, bird-watching, and going fishing (her favorite thing to do).

The family wishes to thank everyone who helped take care of Ola during her last years, Opal and Garth, Johnnie Smith, Wilma and Crew at Hollybush, and the SunBridge staff, including Patty. Their kindness and patience are greatly appreciated.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery.
