Oliver A. Savell Dies in Jackson

Oliver Austin Savell, 68, Philadelphia RFD 7, died, September 24, at the Veteran's Hospital in Jackson, following a[n] illness of several weeks. Mr. Savell, a native of Leake County, lived in the Laurel Hill community most of his life, where he was engaged in farming. He was a vetern of World War I. He was a Baptist holding membership in the Laurel Hill Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Willie Buna Savell; two sons, Otha and Oliver Savell, Jr., two daughters Mrs. Georgie Bell Chunn and Mrs. Ollie B. Goldman; two brothers Sam and Morgan Savell; two sisters, Mrs. Dolly Mae Robertson, and Mrs. Janie Lovern and seven grandchildren.

Last rites were held at the Hope Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. The Revs. Curtis Griffen, Dewey Ward and Carlton Jones officiated. Interment followed in the Hope Cemetery. J.V., Paul, Billy, and Kirby Savell, James Porter, Cecil Hicks, Frankie T. Lovern, and Alvis Thaggard were pallbearers. McClain-Hayes funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
