MYLIUS

ELIZABETH VANN MYLIUS, passed away April 5, 2005 in Houston. She was born October 4, 1912 in Fulton, Louisiana and moved to Houston at the age of 6 months. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joel Jourdan Vann and Ollie Leola Evans, brother, Lester J. Vann, and her beloved husband, Elmer William Mylius.

After graduating from Central High School in 1930, Elizabeth attended business school and worked for Reed Roller Bit. In 1931 she met Elmer, the love of her life, at a church picnic. They married May 11, 1937 and spent 59 wonderful years together. She retired from her career to become a full-time mother and homemaker. She was as a Scout leader and active in the PTA.

Elizabeth was a devoted Christian and member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church for nearly 60 years. She served as Altar Guild Directress from 1960 to 1986, member of St. Margaret's Chapter, president of the Episcopal Church Women and chaired various ffundraisers She and Elmer were founding members of the St. Paul's Promenaders, a square dance club, and they shared many wonderful times with friends square dancing on Sunday night.

Elizabeth had a strong artistic and creative drive. She was a wonderful cook, particularly known for her marvelous pies and cakes. She and Elmer shared a great love of gardening and they took great pride in their landscaping. She enjoyed hat making and ceramics and was an accomplished seamstress. Later in life she discovered painting, which brought her tremendous joy and became her true passion.

Elizabeth will be warmly remembered as a delightfully gracious lady of wit and charm who loved her family and many long time friends.

She is survived by daughter, Deborah Burge and husband, Terry, and by sons, Gordon Mylius and wife, Connie, and Ron Mylius and wife, Lynn; by granddaughters, Lisa Womack, Dawn Stewart and husband, James, and Kimberly Fulks and husband, Jeff; by grandsons, Michael Mylius and wife, Angie, Kyle Mylius and wife, Leigh, Wade Mylius, Scott Burge and Tyler Burge; by great granddaughters, Jessica Mylius, Heather Mylius, Hannah Stewart, Emma Mylius and Lyndsey Mylius; by great grandsons, Taylor Stewart, Shane Mylius and Alec Smith.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Barbara Gilbert for her devoted care and friendship. We would also like to acknowledge the staffs of Parkway Place and West Houston Medical Center for their kindness and sincere efforts in our mother's final days.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2005 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale. Services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 12:30 in the Chapel of Angels, Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. A reception will follow at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Parish Hall. Pallbearers will be Terry Burge, Jeff Fulks, Kyle Mylius, Michael Mylius, Wade Mylius and James Stewart.
