Opal Davis
Funeral services for Opal Davis were at 2 p.m. today in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, and the Rev. Bruce Cotton of Hospice of Lubbock officiating. Burial was in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Davis died at 12:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, in Heritage Oaks Nursing Home in Lubbock. She was born in Durant, Okla., and moved at an early age to Estacado where she grew up and attended schools. After graduating from high school, she moved to Plainview. She owned a restaurant in Tulia and had worked for Howard Discount Store, K-Bob's Steakhouse and J.C. Penney's in Plainview. She moved to Lubbock in January 1990 and worked for Dunlap's Department Store for several years before retiring. She was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. In March 1946, she married Austin Davis in San Antonio. He died in 1980 in Plainview.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Rice and Debbie Bradford, both of Lubbock; two sons, Danny Davis of Lubbock and Donnie Davis of Colleyville; two sisters, Mary Koonce of Lubbock and Bernice Noble of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Lubbock.
