OREN MCCARTY SR.

Oren O. McCarty Sr., 75, of Stringer, died Sunday at Jones County Community Hospital after a long illness.

The funeral was today at 2 p.m. at Memory Chapel. Burial was in Fair Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The Revs. Bobby Jones and Lester Gardner, Dr. Eugene Murphy and Rev. Jimmy Hill officiated.

A lifelong resident of Jasper County, Mr. McCarty had retired from Crow Drilling Co. and Bush Construction Co. He was a member and deacon of Fair Ridge Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Onui McCarty, and one sister, Mrs. Gordie Lackey.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Lou Parish McCarty of St[r]inger; a son, Oren Oneil McCarty Jr. of Wesson; a daughter, Mrs. Kenny (Rebecca) Hill of Big Creek; four brothers, Lamar R. McCarty of Laurel, Lambert McCarty of Stringer, Edward McCarty of Ocean Springs and Luther McCarty of Florence, Ala.; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Odell Williams, Robert Gregory, Bennie J. Evans, Kenny McCarty, Robert Graham and Forrest Ray Sims.

Memory Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
