SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Orren (Jerry) Akin, Jr., 79, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2003 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. There will be a graveside service held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at Forest Park West Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, prior to the service at 10 a.m.
Mr. Akin born March 14, 1923 in Redwater, TX passed away February 13, 2003 in Houston, TX.
Mr. Akin was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church of Shreveport and a member of the Young At Heart Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Sunset Lodge #438 F&AM, Scottish Rites and the El Karubah Shrine.
Mr. Akin was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Akin. He is survived by one son, James B. (Jim) Akin and wife, Lee of Houston, TX; two granddaughters, Jessica Brooke Akin and Amanda Christine Akin.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
