Osie F. Franton
Osie Freeman Franton, 85, died Feb. 23, 1994, at the home of her nephew, Rudy L. Wallace, in McComb.
Visitation is 4-8 tonight at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb and from 8 a.m. Friday until services at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Rick Kennedy will officiate, and burial will be in Montgomery Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Franton was born Aug. 2, 1908, in the O'Neal community of Amite County. She was the daughter of the late Rufus “Pink” Freeman and Viola Bradshaw Freeman.
She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was a descendant of Davey Crockett. She enjoyed music, especially playing the organ. She cared for and nursed her family for most of her life.
She also was preceded in death by seven brothers, Shelby, Wren, Alcus, Hosea, Pat, Julius and Ernest Freeman; and four sisters, Gladys, Janie, Julie and Ethel Freeman.
She is survived by one brother-in-law, Wardell Britt of Brookhaven; one sister-in-law, Lizzie Freeman of Summit; two sisters, Stella Freeman Wallace of McComb and Dixie Freeman of Summit; 24 nieces and nephews and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mrs. Franton's nephews will serve as pallbearers. They are Edward Yates, Pete Bardwell, Donald Freeman, Mike Freeman, Nelson Freeman, Mark Freeman and Wilfred Britt. Honorary pallbearers will be Homer T. Freeman, Wardell Britt, Tommy Cox and James Rushing.
