LAST RITES FOR O. C. WHITTINGTON

Funeral services were held for O. C. Whittington, 63, of Liberty, at 3 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 1985 from New Zion Baptist Church. Services were conducted by Elder Walter Blalock, Rev. Ed Campbell and Rev. Virgil Knight.

Mr. Whittington died Wednesday, May 29, 1985 at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, following a lengthy illness. He was born May 26, 1922 in Liberty, Mississippi the son of the late Sam. E. Whittington and Lula Freeman. He was retired from International Paper Company in Natchez after 31 years, a veteran of WWII U.S. Coast Guard and a member of New Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Reeves Whittington, Liberty; one son, Leo Whittington, Jayess, Miss.; three daughters, Jo Ann Fleming, Liberty, Maurine Wicker, Smithdale and Sharon Wicker, Liberty; three sisters, Marlene Ogden, Mobile, Ala., Clarice Allred, Auburn, Miss., and Geraldine Blalock, Liberty; two brothers, J. C. Whittington, Liberty and Alvie Whittington, Magnolia; 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 2 step-granddaughters.

Interment was in the Jacobs Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Active Pallbearers were Delano Reeves, Frank Reeves, Roger Dale Whittington, Edward Earl Whittington, David Cloy and Claude Freeman, Jr.
