Mr. Emmons dies in Texas

Otto Emmons, 76, of Ennis, Texas, died Wednesday afternoon, August 23, in Baylor Hospital, Dallas, Texas, after an extended illness.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Keever Chapel with the Rev. John Dowl, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Myrtle Cemetery.

Mr. Emmons was born November 17, 1895 in the Jefferson Community, the son of Thomas and Molly Harper Emmons. In April, 1917, he entered the U.S. Army, serving with the famous Rainbow Division in France and Germany during World War I. After returning from the service, he went into Civil Service for the Veterans Administration in Mississippi, Texas, and New Mexico. On September 28, 1940, he was married to Miss Vivian Wilson in San Francisco. They moved to Ennis in 1969 where he was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Relatives from Mississippi attending the funeral were: Mr. John Tom Grant of Electric Mills; Mr. and Mrs. Emmons Grant of Biloxi; and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Dean of Vicksburg.
