Ouida L. Pyle

McPHERSON -- Ouida L. Pyle, 78, died Dec. 8, 2004, at The Cedars, McPherson.

She was born March 30, 1926, at Hebert, La., the daughter of Charlie McDonald and Lottie L. Brown. She was a graduate of Central Christian College and McPherson College, with degrees in education. A McPherson resident since 1946, formerly of Beloit, she was a retired teacher, having taught in McPherson area schools for 37 years.

She belonged to Free Methodist Church, Y.M.C.A., McPherson Area Retired Teachers Association, Kansas-National Education Association and National Teachers Association.

On March 18, 1946, she married Glenn D. Pyle at West Monroe, La. He survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Don Pyle, Shawnee; a daughter, Dianna Stovall, McPherson; a sister, Myrtis Meadors-Murphy, Columbia, La.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip and Charles McDonald, and two sisters, Murlene Clark and Frances Blackwell.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Free Methodist Church, McPherson, with the Revs. Tom Griffith and Tom Mayse presiding. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson. A private committal service and interment will be held in McPherson Cemetery, prior to the funeral.
