Owen Wayne ``Buddy'' Sheffield

Services for Owen Wayne ``Buddy'' Sheffield, 73, of Longview, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2005, at the Welch Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Merrell Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Old White Oak Cemetery. Mr. Sheffield passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at his residence.

Mr. Sheffield was born July 27, 1932, in Longview, to W.G. and Kathleen Owens Sheffield. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea. He was a devout Texas Longhorn and Longview Lobo fan. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family and friends always came first.

Surviving Mr. Sheffield are his wife of 52 years and 27 days, Phyllis; sons and daughters-in-law, David Wayne and Karen Sheffield, and Glenn and Becky Sheffield; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannine and Steve Newman, and Lea Ann and Brian Slaughter; grandchildren, Adam Sheffield, Troy Pelletier, Tara Pinsky, Paul Whittenberg, Drew Wittenberg, Brandi Sisk, Johnathan Sheffield, Hollie Burnam, Heather Burnam, Stevi Slaughter, and Joshua Slaughter; nine great-grandchildren; and special friend, Buffy.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Heart'sWay Hospice and Cathy Gilbert for their special love, care, and attention given to our father.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. this evening, December 2, 2005, at the funeral home.
