Pauline Cathey

SHREVEPORT,LA -- Pauline Cathey, age 103, of Shreveport, LA, passed away Monday, July 28, 2008, at Garden Park Nursing Home in Shreveport, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 East Kings Highway, Shreveport, LA. Graveside services will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Shreveport, LA at 4:00pm on Thursday, July 31, 2008.

Ms. Cathey was born February 9, 1905 in Georgetown, LA to James A. Cathey and Carrie Lou Harkness Cathey, the fifth of their six children. She lived in Gibsland where she was raised and attended school. In 1925, she was the first of her family to move to Shreveport and attended business school and worked. One Sunday morning Huey Long gave Pauline and her sister Annie Mae a ride downtown to the First Baptist Church on Travis Street where she became a lifetime member. She had more that 80 years of uninterrupted service and membership at First Baptist Church of Shreveport.

Pauline began working at the First National Bank in 1940 and retired in 1970. She was a faithful member of the retirees club of First National Bank.

Left to cherish her memory are her nephews; Don Couvillon (Clara) of Bethesda, MD, and Cooksey Humphrey (Martha) of Bossier City, nieces; Paula Johns (David) Lyndal Phillips, Biddie Arceneaux and Jo Ann Holloway (Perry), Nena Hardison, and Frances Pipes of Shreveport.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Connie Banks and Lilly Henderson of Garden Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to First Baptist Church for their continuous support and visits to Pauline.
