Bufkin Pauline Emmons, 100, of Brenham, Texas, died Monday services at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home chapel, Mansfield burial in Highland Cemetery, Mansfield.

Pauline Bufkin

Mrs. Pauline Emmons Bufkin went to be with her Lord July 8, 2002 at the age of 100. At the time of her death she was a resident of Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at the Chapel of the Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, La. Dr. William Crosby and Dr. Scott Tatum will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery beside Floran E. Bufkin, her husband for 68 years prior to his death Dec. 27, 1987.

Mrs. Bufkin was born April 4, 1902 in the Wallace community. In 1924 she and Mr. Bufkin moved to Mansfield. They were owners and operators of a grocery business in Mansfield for 26 years. At the time of her death, she had been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Mansfield for 74 years.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, James W. Emmons Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Haire Emmons; four brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by one son, David Bufkin and his wife Lee of Brenham; two grandchildren, Peggy Louise Bufkin Gerst and her husband Robert E. Gerst of Houston and David Michael Bufkin of San Antonio; three great-grandchildren, Robert Derrick Gerst and his wife Karen Gerst of Durango, Colo., Richard Brian Gerst of Durango, Colo. and Kathleen G. Ham and her husband Kevin Ham of Houston; and great-great-grandchildren, Pacey Lee Purvis of Houston and Caleb Michael Gerst of Durango, Colo.

Pallbearers will be deacons of First Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Bufkin, Ray Lewing and the other deacons of First Baptist Church.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Mansfield or the charity of their choice.
