SMITH, PEGGY went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 19, 2003. She was born on February 11, 1924 in Hattiesburg, MS to Mary McDaniel and Allen William Carter. She was the youngest of four children all of whom have preceded her in death. She moved to Dallas from Mississippi during her teen years, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. She married Edward Dennison Smith of Dallas in December of 1939 and they were married for 50 years before his death in 1990. They were active members at Munger Place Baptist Church in East Dallas during their early years and more recently at FBC Dallas. She was a member of the Meridian Dept. and the Ruth Class. She was a devoted Christian and taught both children and adults in Bible study and served the Lord in many other capacities during her life. She was a longtime member of the Lakewood Garden Club where she held various offices. She loved antiques, was very creative and caring and loved to share her gifts with others. She worked at Southwest Smelting Co. for many years and later for the American Lung Association. She also owned and operated an antique jewelry business called the ``Jewelrysmiths'' for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Eddie and survived by daughter Susan Hill and husband Rick, daughter Patti Blythe and husband Richard; granddaughter Jennifer Holly, husband Brad; grandson Graham Hill, wife Angie; granddaughter Kathy Blythe, and one great granddaughter Brittany Holly.
She had many friends and loved ones and will be missed by all. Services will be 1:30 P.M. Monday June 23, 2003 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Interment to follow in Restland Memorial Park.
