PEGGY COE MCKINNEY died peacefully in her home in Clear Lake City on December 13, 2009 while surrounded by her family. She was born in Houston on November 18, 1937 and grew up in Tomball, Texas. She was a fifth generation Texan and descendent of Isaac Decker, an early Texas pioneer and land developer. Her parents were Ernest Wheeler Coe and Agnes Coe. Peggy attended the University of Texas at Austin where she met her husband, Patrick Harris (Pat) McKinney, whom she married on June 25, 1960. Peggy gave birth to Kevin Coe McKinney on October 20, 1961.
Peggy is survived by her mother: Agnes Coe, her husband: Pat McKinney, her son: Kevin Coe McKinney and his wife: Diana, her grandson: Colin Max McKinney, her brother: Ernest Wheeler Coe, Jr., her niece: Kelli Coe Litzau and her husband: David, and her nephew: Ernest Wheeler Coe III and his wife: Snow.
Peggy enjoyed all gatherings with her family and felt especially blessed by those spent with her fantastic grandson, Colin. She loved traveling with her husband in Europe and Canada as well as the United States. She led an active life in the Clear Lake community where she was a founding member and president of the Women's Association of Bay Oaks Country Club, a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, and a member of the Houston Symphony League Bay Area.
A viewing will occur from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday at the James Crowder Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 16335 El Camino Real, with Reverend Tony Vinson officiating. They will be followed by a graveside service at 3:00 pm Wednesday at the Decker Prairie Cemetery, Decker Prairie Road, west of State Highway 249, Decker Prairie, Texas.
