Percy Davis

FERRIDAY -- Services for Percy Lesandy Davis, 84, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, in Natchez, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Ensminger officiating.

Burial will follow at Holly Grove Cemetery in Wisner, La., under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Davis was born April 26, 1925, in Many, La., the son of Meddie Sr. and Lola N. Davis. He was retired from Chevron as an oilfield gauger. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Melvina Cates and Gracie Mae Bruce; and three brothers, Joel, Meddie Jr., and Chester Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Davis; two sons, Joey Davis and Percy Lee Davis, both of Electic, Ala.; one daughter, Melba Duncan and husband, Greg Sr., of Monterey; two brothers, Tallie Davis of Arkansas and Tommy Davis of Bernice, La.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Duncan, Bud Duncan, Cam Avery, Dewayne LaPrarie, James Davis, Gary Denton, Greg Duncan Jr., and Marshall Duncan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jachob LaPrarie, Caeleb LaPrarie, Colby Avery, Tucker Avery, Landon Duncan, Jasper Carroll and Orion Denton.
