Pershing Paul ``Buck'' Stringer
Services for Mr. Stringer, 84, of Lufkin, were held October 25, 2001 in the First Assembly of God Church, burial in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Stringer was a welder-pipefitter for Lufkin Industries for 35 years.
Together with his wife, he owned Lufkin-B-Q until 1984 when the business was acquired by his son, Paul.
Mr. Stringer was a Shriner and became well known in the area for helping crippled children.
He served on the board of directors of the International Broadcasting Network. He is listed in the ``Greatest Personalities of the South''. He received the Thy Brother's Keeper Award from the Lufkin Daily News and has a chapter in the book by the same name devoted to him.
