Phillip B. Emmons

SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Mr. Phillip B. Emmons, 76, of Shreveport, will be held at Frost Chapel, First Baptist Church of Shreveport, on Wednesday, September 4, 1996 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Dr. Jon Stubblefield, pastor of First Baptist Church of Shreveport. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, 1996 at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel.

Mr. Emmons was born on November 15, 1919 in Winnfield, Louisiana and resided in Shreveport/Bossier area for the most of his life. He passed away on Monday, September 2, 1996 at Columbia Highland Hospital. Mr. Emmons was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shreveport, where he served as a deacon. He graduated from Bossier High School in 1937. After receiving a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1941, he entered the United States Army. He served with the Ninth Infantry Division in North Africa, Sicily, France, Belgium and Germany. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the French Croix De Guerre. Mr. Emmons, a Registered Petroleum Engineer, retired from Arkla Gas in 1985.

Mr. Emmons was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joy Lynn Gipson Emmons; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Emmons; his brothers, Roy and Glyn and sister, De Maurice Smith.

He is survived by a son, John D. Emmons; a daughter, Margaret Lemon and husband, Chris; a sister, Mrs. Doris Emmons Hebert and husband, W.C. (Buster) Hebert; three grandchildren, Jason Emmons, Chelsey and Joshua Lemon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Charles Grady Tingle, Gene Griswald, James Bolton, Bruce Williams, M.O. Parker and Langston McEarchem.

Honorary pallbearers will be Reet Lawhon, Ed Stevens, Men from Dr. Middleton's Luncheon Club and the Tennis Club.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Shreveport.
