Funeral Services for Pine Bluffian Killed In Crash
Phillip Morton Higgason, 33, former Pine Bluffian, was killed instantly Wednesday in Springhill, La., where he was visiting, when the plane which he was piloting nose dived into the ground.
Mr. Higgason, son of J. A. [sic J. W.] Higgason and the late Laura Higgason, was born April 18, 1916 in Jersey, Arkansas, where he spent his youth. He was a graduate of the Arkadelphia high school.
In 1937 he was married to the former Miss Mildred House at Hermitage, Ark. April 5, 1944, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy where he served in the South Pacific. He was discharged January 2, 1946 and came to Pine Bluff. He was employed as a mechanic for the Hart Hudson Company here moving to Little Rock a few months ago.
He was a member of the Baptist church.
Surviving is his wife, two sons, Phillip Larkin Higgason and Kenneth Stanley Higgason, Little Rock, his father, J. W. Higgason, Pine Bluff, two sisters, Mrs. C. B. Hamm, Pine Bluff and Mrs. Amy James, Camden, Ark.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the South Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Charles E. Lawrence, pastor of the Gaines St. Baptist church, Little Rock. Burial was in the Holly Spring cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Robert F. Bradford, Harris Bryant, Charles Tanner, Carl McClain, Lee Webb and J. D. Bearden.
