PIERCE J. BISHOP JR.

Pierce Jefferson Bishop Jr., 71, of Laurel, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 1994, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, with burial in the Antioch Cemetery in Jasper County. Dr. Dennis Sewell and the Rev. Lawrence Dye will officiate.

He was a retired electrician from Masonite Corp. after 39 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an active member of Highland Baptist Church since 1954. He was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge in Louin, the Disabled American Veterans and was a former Scout Master of Troop #44 at Highland Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Curtis Bishop; and one sister, Hazel Dye.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn D. Bishop of Laurel; one son, Brian J. Bishop of Pearl; one daughter, Beverly Kelly of Clearwater, Fla.; one brother, William B. Bishop of Laurel; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Roy Rowzee, Ray Pounds, Ray Phillips, Ray Moffett, B. T. Collins, and Bill Powell.

Memorials may be given to the Building Fund of Highland Baptist Church in Laurel.

Visitation will be from 5:30 - 9 p.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of the arrangements.
