Funeral services for Prentice L. Hayes were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 1999 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Calvin Phelps officiated. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories, Winnfield.

Mr. Hayes, 64, of Winnfield, died Monday, August 23, 1999 in Columbia, LA. He was a truck driver for J.K. Martin Timber Co. and a native of Ajax, LA.

Survivors are his wife, Billie Lester Hayes of Winnfield, LA; one son, Randall Hayes of Winnfield, LA; three daughters, Darleen Parks and Carolyn Hayes both of Winnfield, LA and Tonya Lang and husband Mark of Atlanta, LA; one foster daughter, Norma Thomason of Winnfield, LA; one brother, Terry Hayes of Winnfield, LA; one sister, Billie Faircloth of DeVille, LA; five grandchildren, Dwayne Blair, Denise Carpenter and husband Nick, Daniel Blair, Nicholas Lang, and Natalie Lang; one great grandchild, Dakota Blair. Also surviving is his mother-in-law Lizzie Ruth Lester of Dry Prong.

He was preceded in death by his parents R.D. and Ruby Hayes; one sister, Shirley Elaine, and five brothers, R.D. Jr., Derrel, Wayne, James Ray and Donald Gene.

Pallbearers were: Toffie Nugent, Albert Moore, Cricket Lang, Greg Lang, Terry Reeves, Ronnie Maxey, Don Gilbert and James Haymon.
