Mr. P.G. Grambling, Jr.
RUSTON, LA - Friends and family of P.G. Grambling, Jr. will gather to celebrate his life at the homesite in Ruston on Saturday, January 4, 1997 at 11 a.m. under the direction of Owens Memorial Funeral Home of Ruston. He died recently at age 89.
Native of Ruston, P.G. was an active and well known resident of North Louisiana. A graduate of Louisiana Tech in electrical and mechanical engineering class of 1930, he began his career with LP&L Sterlington, where he met and married Ruth Barham of Oak Ridge in 1931. They returned to Ruston, and P.G. rose to position of Superintendent, Ruston Light and Water Department, which he held for many years before spending the last 3 years of his career in a similar position in Winnfield. He was past Grand Master of the Ruston Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Ruston Country Club.
The Grambling family has been in Ruston and Lincoln Parish for about 150 years. His parents, Alta and Graves Grambling, lived for many years in the home that they built on Louisiana Avenue. P.G.'s ancestors fought in the American Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Survivors are his two daughters, Ann Shipley of Yazoo City, MS and Freda Gandy of Annapolis, MD; a sister, Virginia McConathy of Shreveport; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
