Priar ``Pete'' Flowers
Priar ``Pete'' Flowers - Born February 16, 1919, in Summerville, LA, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 5, 2010.
Pete was a U.S. Army Air Force WWII veteran serving his country as a radio technician and instructor. Following his military service, he farmed in Wisconsin until he moved his family to Mobile in 1959. At that time, Pete began his career with the U.S. Postal Service retiring in 1979. His hobbies included camping, Ham radio, automobile and home repairs. A fine Christian gentleman, Pete was well respected for his faith. For many years, he taught Sunday school and supported his church always. He was a member of First Church of God in Mobile. He will be fondly remembered for many wonderful reasons, especially the way he began his prayer, ``Well Lord, this is Pete''.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Flowers.
Survivors include his wife, Frances J. Flowers; five sons, Charles H. (Nina) Flowers of Davison, MI, Robert L. (Turkan) Flowers of Lompoc, CA, Richard K. (Karen) Flowers of Seattle, WA, James M. (Joey) Flowers of Clearwater, KS, and Kenneth G. (Pam) Flowers of Garland, TX; one sister, Mavis Cockerham of Trout, LA; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Thursday, September 9, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Thursday, and from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Robertsdale.
