Purlis T. ``Pitching'' Corley

Funeral services for Mr. Purlis T. Corley will be at 2 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2003, in Selma Methodist Church of Georgetown, with Rev's. Lane Corley and Fred Cory officiating. Burial will be in Starks Cemetery of Georgetown, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.

Mr. Corley, 94, of Georgetown, died at 6:17 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2003 in Woods Haven Sr. Citizens Home of Pollock.

He was a timekeeper for the Louisiana State Highway Department and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII. He also loved to fish.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jo Ann Corley of Georgetown daughter, Della Ruth Bankston and her husband Donnie of Williana son, Robert T. Corley and his wife Glenda of Georgetown brother, Leonard Corley of Georgetown 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son Danny Ray Corley.

Friends may call at Selma Methodist Church after 4 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2003 until time of service in the church on Monday.

Pallbearers will be Louis Bankston, Andy Bankston, Robert Corley, Jr., Burton Corley, Elton Ray Barrett, and Shelby Cruse.

Honorary pallbearers will be P.E. Ussery, Jr., Howard Mobley, Bobby Ray Hawthorne, Andrew Hawthorne, Richard Hawthorne, Roy Max Brazzell and W.C. Holloway.
