Rachel Lee Bardwell

STUTTGART - Mrs. Rachel Lee Bardwell of Stuttgart, Ark. went to be with her Lord on Aug. 6, 2003. She recently celebrated her 78 th birthday on June 24. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Dr. Roy Charles Bardwell. Her memory will be cherished by her four children, John Charles (Melinda) of Stuttgart, Steven Roy (Christie) of Little Rock, Alan Neal (Shelley) of Stuttgart, and Patricia ``Tooney'' Ann of Little Rock. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Sky Morris, Michael Alan Bardwell and Matthew Neal Bardwell.

Mrs. Bardwell was a graduate of Henderson State Teachers College and before starting her family, was a teacher at Bauxite High School. She was born in Warren, Ark., to John and Corrie Neal Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Elizabeth Ozment, and one brother, Jack Lee. Her only living sibling is Charlotte Emley of Omaha, Neb.

Mrs. Bardwell was an active member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church until she succumbed to her illness. She served as a Sunday School teacher, a secretary of United Methodist Women, chairman of Circle II, lead or attended numerous Bible studies and was a member of the Grand Avenue Prayer Chain.

Visitation will be at Turpin Funeral Home, 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Services will be held at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at 2 p.m. Services will be performed by The Rev. George E. Rook. Interment will follow immediately at Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home. At the request of the family, memorials in lieu of flowers should be sent to Grand Avenue United Methodist Church or Grand Avenue UMW, 803 South Grand, Stuttgart, Ark., 72160. The family will be receiving friends and loved ones at the home of Alan and Shelley Bardwell in Stuttgart.
