Rachelle E. Pinkston

Miss Rachelle Elizabeth Pinkston, 90, retired teacher and resident of Life Care Center, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jeremy Butt and David Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 7p.m. and Thursday from 12noon until time of service at the funeral home.

She was the daughter of the late Vassie Sewell Pinkston and Anna Elizabeth Pinkston Pinkston. She was a 1934 graduate of Columbia Central High School and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. A longtime resident of Dunnington St., Miss Pinkston taught elementary school in the Maury County School system for forty years. She was a member of the Jane Knox Chapter of D.A.R. and the Maury County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of West 7th Street church of Christ where she attended the Tuesday Morning Ladies Bible Class and, following her retirement from teaching, she helped categorize the library at the church.

Survivors include four nieces, Anna (Ken) Hinson of Nashville, Jane (Dan) Carr of Jacksonville, FL, Nancy (Charles) McLain of Mahomet, IL, Peggy Tate of Nashville; one nephew, Bobby Primm of Nashville; 10 great nieces and nephews; 7 great-great nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam Leonard Pinkston, Loyd Pinkston, Hardin Pinkston and one sister, Edna Pinkston Primm.

Pallbearers will be Shelby Carpenter, Howard Robinson, Kevin Hinson, Keith Hinson, Archie Manson Morrow, III and Walt Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gipson Baucum Sunday School Class at West 7th Street church of Christ.
