Ralph Johnson

Ralph Johnson, 83, of Amarillo died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Carter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.

Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 17, 1926, in Tyler. He was a resident of Amarillo since the early 1950s. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He married Sallie Carter on June 5, 1948.

He retired from the U.S. post office after 25 years of service.

Ralph had a great sense of humor and was always ready to help anyone in need.

Survivors include his wife, Sallie Johnson; two sons, Jerry Johnson of Wolfforth and Tommy Johnson of Tucumcari, N.M.; a daughter, Donna Swanson of Ore; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, R.D. Johnson of Yukon, Okla., and Harold Sites of Houston; and two sisters, Brenda Sue Phillips of Junction and Ida Fay Balentine of Mesquite.
