Randolph “Randy” Richmond
1931-2013

Randolph “Randy” Richmond, age 82, of Pensacola, FL, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013. He was born in the Standing Pine community in Leake County, MS on April 19, 1931. He graduated from Freeny High School and enrolled at Delta Junior College in Decatur, MS. There he met his future wife, Wanda, whom he married on November 8, 1952. He joined the US Army during the Korean Conflict and served from 1951-1954; mainly at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) just outside of Paris, France. Upon his discharge from the Army, Randy completed his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Master's Degree in School Administration at Mississippi Southern College. In 1957, Randy and Wanda moved to Pensacola, FL where he became a P.E. coach at then Warrington Jr. High. He coached P.E., football, baseball and basketball until 1968 when he became assistant principal. To this day, many people who came through Warrington in that era still call him “Coach”. He stayed at Warrington until 1989 when he transferred to Bellview Middle School to finish out his career and retire in 1992. For the past 20+ years, he's enjoyed his retirement by spending the days working at his shop on Gulf Beach Hwy.

Randy is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; his parents, “Dock” and Eula Richmond; and two of his sisters, Linda and Laverne.

He is survived by his son and his family, Rodney and Audrey Richmond and their children, Brenna and Vance; his son, Van Richmond; and two of his sisters, Imogene Caldwell and Retha Nazary.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 1 PM at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 Noon until the service hour.
