RANKIN F. JOHNSON DIES

Rankin Florian Johnson, 68, pioneer resident of Harrison county, died Monday at 1:20 p.m. at his home in the Success community, east of Saucier.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the Bethel Church, near the home, with burial in the Bethel Cemetery, Rev. James W. Powell Jr., pastor of Saucier Methodist Church, officiating.

Pallbearers were I. W. Ramsey, Bass O'Neal, Leslie Byrd, John Williams, Laz Bond and Marshall Cates.

Mr. Johnson, born in Harrison county July 15, 1882, is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eliza Cates Johnson; thirteen children, Mrs. D. L. Mallette, Mrs. Roy Mallette, route 1, Saucier, Mrs. John Calcote, McCall Creek, Miss.; Mrs. Otto Flurry, route A, Perkinston; Mrs. W. W. Davis, Roxie, Miss.; Mrs. B. C. Bush, Pensacola, Fla.; Odell Johnson, Chesley Johnson, Miss Melvia Jean Johnson, Jerry Wayne Johnson, Miss Phyliss Johnson, Sharon Johnson and Roger Johnson, all of route 1, Saucier; five brothers, Isaac Johnson, Claude Johnson, both of Saucier; Stanton Johnson, Greenville, SC; Eliud Johnson, Saucier; Reese Johnson, Meridian; and three sisters, Mrs. D. D. McNeely, Greenville, SC; Mrs. J. D. Jones, Picayune; and Mrs. Phillip Perchine, Peekskill, NY.
