KITCHENS

Raviel “Rae” Viola Hathorn Kitchens passed peacefully to heaven December 13, 2013 from the Harborview Care Center in League City, TX.

She was born March 28, 1923 at Soso, Jones County, MS into the family of Dewey and Linnie Bell Hathorn; her sister and brothers were Fayola Bucklew, Lee, Odell, and Hurschel Hathorn. She attended Calhoun High School, and became the beloved wife of Robert Lee Kitchens in 1941. They lived 10 years in Tuckers Crossing, MS, co-owning a grocery store, and eventually settled in Kenner, La where she worked for Delta Match and for an optometrist as an office manager. She worshipped for many years at Williams Boulevard Baptist Church in Kenner.

Raviel is survived by her daughter Juanese Y. Calkins of League City, TX, her son Danny L. Kitchens of Lutcher, LA, brothers Lee and Odel Hathorn both of the Laurel, MS area, one granddaughter, Dallas Smith of Boerne, TX and three great-grand children, Stephanie Rae, Douglas Kent, and Dana Richard Smith.

Her Graveside Service will be held at Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1206 Wansley Road, Laurel, MS 39440, on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 2 p.m. where her remains will be interred beside her beloved husband Robert.
