“Ray” Cockerham
Funeral services for Mr. “Ray” Cockerham will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Jena with Rev. Craig James and Rn Nation officiating. Interment will follow in the Chalk Hill Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Jena.
Mr. Cockerham, age 86, of Jena, passed from this life on Monday, June 12, 2006 at LaSalle General Hospital in Jena.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from the Illinois Central Railroad.
Survivors include one daughter, Doris Rae Sanders of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; one son, Ricky Cockerham and wife Cindy of Trout; two sisters, Bessie Jones of Trout and Virginia Cassell of Pineville; two brothers, Marvin Cockerham of Trout and Conrad "Teet" Cockerham of Jonesville; two grandchildren, Sue Smith and Mike Sanders; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Clarence and Beverly Durham.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Aldis Cockerham; brothers, Troy and Elton Cockerham; sister, Gussie Cassell; grandchild, Jim Sanders; parents, G.R. and Lydia Cockerham.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Hudson, Donnie Cupples, Winston Mills, Mike Sanders, Rocky Weaver, Butch Smith, George Davidson and Danny Boyd.
Friends may call at Hixson Brothers in Jena from 8 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday.
