Mr. Ray Morris Jr.
July 7, 1928 - December 6, 2010

Ray Morris, Jr. passed away on Monday, the 6th of December 2010, in Rowlett, Texas, at the age of 82. He was born in Dallas, Texas, on the 7th of July 1928. He met and married a beautiful nurse, Lillie Rae, and was married for 56 years.

Professionally, Ray completed a Commercial Art Degree and immediately pursued his Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, graduating from Rice University. He spent a career as an architect, contributing to the design and construction of the Astrodome, of which he also produced an oil painting. He also painted images of other sports facilities at Universities around the country. Architecturally, he contributed to the design of medical facilities in Houston and Galveston.

In his leisure time, he loved reading and writing. In the past few years, he wrote an extensive autobiography, sharing family remembrances as they intersected important events of history.

He is preceded in death by his wife, the late Lillie Rae Morris. He is survived by his son, Dr. Ray Morris, III, and his wife Sidra of Layton, Utah; his daughter, Suzanne Strong and her husband Rick, of Rockwall, Texas; and his three wonderful grandsons, Henry Strong, Daniel Strong and Michael Morris. His sister, Beverly Brock and her husband Douglas of Ft. Worth, Texas; and two sisters-in-law, Pansy Conner of Jacksonville, Texas, and Violet Lewis of Houston, Texas, survive him as well. He is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six until eight o'clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 22nd of December, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

The Funeral Service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Thursday, the 23rd of December, also in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, where Pastor Jeff Berger, of Westbury Baptist Church, is to officiate.

The interment is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Ray's name be directed to Westbury Baptist Church, 10425 Hillcroft Ave., Houston, TX, 77096.
