Mr. Raymond Bond Walker
Raymond Bond Walker passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2010. Born in New Orleans on March 24, 1921, he was preceded in death by his father, Randall Felix Walker; his mother, Ola Bond Walker; his brother, James Hubert Walker; and his son, Raymond Bond Walker, Jr.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Virginia McConnell Walker; two sons, Randall Logan Walker (his wife Linda Chappell Walker) and Duncan King Walker (his wife Caroline Spangenberg Walker); and four grandchildren, Amory Chappell Walker, Ian McConnell Walker, Logan Alexander Walker and Charlotte Louise Walker.
Raymond graduated from both Isadore Newman School (class of 1938) and McCaullie High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee (class of 1939) he attended Tulane University on a football scholarship until 1941, at which time he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. During World War II he served as a fighter pilot flying 163 combat missions in the South Pacific theatre flying P39's, P40's and later in the US P51's. He completed his service as an aerial gunnery officer with the top ranking for accuracy for a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps. He was a partner in Donovan Boat Supplies, Inc. from 1950 to 1970. Besides his family, Raymond's passion was hunting and fishing. He was a charter member of the Mallard Rod & Gun Club, a founding member of the South Louisiana Gun Club, a five time Louisiana state skeet champion and was a level II instructor for the National Sporting Clays Association. Raymond was also a member in a number of social organizations in the New Orleans area.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Avenue on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will follow the service in the Parish House of the church.
