Reba Foster Hobbs
Reba Foster Hobbs, 92, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at her residence on Cornelia Drive.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Robert H. Adair officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The Culleoka native was the daughter of the late George Wesley Foster and Ruth Holt Foster. She was a graduate of Culleoka High School and attended Draughon's Business College. On December 21, 1940 she married Leonard Fleming “Dut” Hobbs who preceded her in death June 1, 2002. Early in her career Mrs. Hobbs was employed at Tennessee Farm Bureau then went to E.I. Dupont Corp. where she worked for twenty-nine years. She was a former longtime resident of Campbell Station where she was active in the Home Demonstration Club and also served as former treasurer of Shane Cemetery in Campbell Station. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she was active in Women on Mission.
Our Reba was a sweet, caring and kind dedicated neighbor and loving friend. She enjoyed her vegetable garden and later in life enjoyed traveling with her loving sister. She will be always loved and forever missed.
Survivors include a sister, Martha Ruth Luster of Columbia; brother, Joe C. (Louise) Foster of Columbia; sister-in-law, Geraldine Foster of Florida; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews; and special friends, Faye Hartsfield, Larry and Betty Powell, Charlene Finley and Rosie Brown all of Columbia.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Freeland and three brothers, Everette Holt Foster, Kenneth Davis Foster and Albert Wesley [sic Albert Allen] Foster.
Active pallbearers are Larry Powell, Bruce Paulson, Larry Van Ness and her nephews. Honorary pallbearers include members of her Sunday School Class at Friendship Baptist Church and former co-workers at E.I. Dupont Corp.
