LOCAL WOMAN BURIED FRIDAY

Caldwell parish lost one of her oldest citizens when Mrs. Rebecca Ellen Brinton (nee Langham) died early last Thursday evening in her ninty-third year, having been born in Mississippi on December 18th, 1846. She came to Caldwell parish with her parents, and spent the remainder of her life in this community. Her husband, Robert E. Brinton, was a merchant for many years in Columbia prior to his death in 1907, after which Mrs. Brinton carried on the business for more than a year.

Until becoming physically disabled she was a very active woman for her years, and was a regular attendant at both of Columbia's churches, though a member of the Baptist church.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church on Friday morning by Rev. Guy F. Winstead of the Baptist church and Rev. V. D. Morris of the Methodist church interment being made in the Brinton Lot in Columbia cemetery, under the supervision of the Riser Funeral Home, Columbia.

Besides a stepson, Robert Brinton, of New York City, Mrs. Brinton has several surviving nephews and nieces, among whom are Fred Winn of Riverton, Mrs. Johnnie Langham McQuerry of Columbia, Mrs. Eva Langham Turner of Rome, Ga., and Mrs. Helen Langham Turner of Dallas, Texas.
