Mrs. Ellen Austin Dies At Age Of 86

Mrs. Ellen Lassiter Austin of Route 3, Four Oaks died Saturday night in Johnston Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

Mrs. Austin, who was 86 years of age, was born in Sampson County. Her parents were the late Luther and Susan Jones Lee.

Mrs. Austin was a member of Saint Mary's Grove Free Will Baptist Church, where the funeral was held at 2:30 Monday afternoon. The Rev. R. H. Jackson and the Rev. Clearon Coats officiated. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield.

Mrs. Austin is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Harvey Johnson and Mrs. Russell Lassiter of Four Oaks; two sons, D. B. Lassiter and L. T. Lassiter of the home; two stepdaughters, Mrs. John Peterson and Mrs. Carl Pope of Clinton; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Barbour of Goldsboro and Mrs. Josie Leneave of Raleigh; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
