Rebecca “Becky” Baltes
Rebecca (Miss Becky) Hogan Baltes, of Ocilla, GA, died November 4, 2003, in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Thursday, November 6, 2003, at St. William's Catholic Church, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Ted Johnson and Rev. David Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Tifton, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M., Wednesday at Paulk Funeral Home, Ocilla.
Mrs. Baltes was born March 7, 1917, in Chula, Georgia, to the late David H. and Mittie Payne Hogan. In 1951 she was preceded in death by her husband Neil E. Baltes. Mrs. Baltes was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, as well as dear friend to many. She was a model of courage raising her two children with out their father, battling cancer three times, as well as other illnesses.
Mrs. Baltes will be remembered for her devotion to her family and St. William's Catholic Church as well as the generous amount of time she spent visiting the sick and elderly. When her children were young, she was a substitute schoolteacher and later worked for Dill's Hardware for 30 years. She was a Pink Lady at Irwin County Hospital and a volunteer for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile.
Mrs. Baltes is survived by: Daughter and son-in-law; Frances and Charles Tidd, Cumming, GA Son and daughter-in-law; Joe and Elizabeth Baltes, Canton, GA; 2 Grandchildren: Jeff Baltesand Ryan Baltes. Sisters: Frances Aultman, Ocilla; Virginia Sedlick and Betty Matthews both of Chula, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Williams Catholic Church, Attn: Mary Spicer, P O Box 861, Fitzgerald, GA 31750.
