Richard Allen Ford
September 6, 1925 - April 29, 2015

Shreveport, LA -- Funeral services celebrating the life of Richard Allen Ford, 89, will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday May 4, 2015 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Segner and Rev. Derrick Cox. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00 pm until the time of service.

Richard was born on September 6, 1925 in Winn Parish, LA and was the 4th of 8 children. He met the Apple of his Eye, Nona in Coushatta, LA and they married on December 21, 1946. Richard passed away on April 29, 2015 in Bossier City, LA.

Richard proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Army, in the Battery A 4820th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. While in service he traveled to England, France, Holland, Germany and Czechoslovakia where he helped send people home from concentration camps. Richard served in World War II and Battle of the Bulge. His medals include: European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign;Army of Occupation; Medal with Germany Clasp; Bronze Star Medal; World War II Victory Medal; Honorable Service Lapel; World War II Button; Good Conduct Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge; Marksman Badge; with Rifle, Bar and Machine Gun.

Richard also was a retired superintendent from Mobil Oil Corporation after 39 years of service, from 1949-1988.

Milestones from Richards life include: 1941--1944; Member of Sikes FFA Parliamentary Law Team who won 1st place, four years straight at state rallies; member of the 4-H club ~ 2/11/1943 -- Elected President; Sikes Victory Corps ~ 1943 -- First elected Vice-President, Future Farmers of America for the State of Louisiana ~ Later 1943 -- Accepted roll of President of the Future Farmers of America for the state of Louisiana and was awarded a State Farmer Degree ~ awarded Gold Future Farmers of America Medal ~ played Guard on Sikes HS Basketball Team; won Winn Parish Championship 1943 ~ served 2 years as Sunday School Director at Gulf Coast Association ~ 1953 -- Ordained Deacon; Sunset Acres Baptist Church, Shreveport, Louisiana ~ In Morgan City, LA; He served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Director of Sunday School, Training Union Director, and Youth Teacher, for 11 years. Leader in Boys Mission Work, RA's, PTA Worker, Public School System ~ Sung in church choirs for more than 50 years. Additional awards Richard achieved were the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, Presidential Council Silver Award and was also recognized and appreciated for volunteer services for Multiple Organizations.

Left to cherish beautiful memories of Richard is his loving and loyal wife of 68 years, Nona S. Ford of Shreveport, LA; sister, Minnie F. Snead of Martin, LA; daughters, Teresa Ford Vidos and husband Melvin, Cynthia Ford Lindenmuth and husband Travis; son, Richard Allen Ford, Jr. and wife Patricia; grandchildren, Kristopher and Keaton Vidos of Natchitoches, LA, Charles Ford, Dawn Ford Stevens and Shane Ford of Hendersonville, TN, Damon Duval, Reba Lindenmuth Bastian, Casy Lindenmuth and Joshua Lindenmuth of Auburn, AL. Mr. Ford is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be: Kristopher Vidos, Damon Duval, Charles Ford, Keaton Vidos, Travis Lindenmuth, Shane Ford and Randal Lentz.
