Richard G. Moore

Richard G. Moore, 83, of Amarillo died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Washington Avenue Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Shelburne officiating. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Mr. Moore was born June 17, 1925, in Amarillo to Roy and Mabel Moore. He graduated from Amarillo High School.

He then entered the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. He married Jane Hurd on May 3, 1947, in Amarillo.

Mr. Moore loved camping and fishing in the mountains and traveling in his trailer. He enjoyed working in his yard and decorating his yard for Christmas.

He enjoyed a good fire in the fireplace and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Moore was a Charter member of North Amarillo Christian Church and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and PT Boats Inc.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bill Moore; a grandson, Aaron Moore; and a granddaughter, Jamie Price.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Moore; three sons, Mike Moore of Los Alamos, N.M., and Mark Moore and Monte Moore and wife Sue, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Becky Price and husband Johnie of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Cade Price, Drew Price, Morgan Price, Lisa Price, Molly Moore and Adam Moore; and four great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Washington Avenue Christian Church Building Fund, 3800 S. Washington St., Amarillo, TX 79110.
